STAFF SHOUT:
"Mrs. Woodward is the definition of a team player! She is always there to jump in and lend a hand whenever anyone is in need. Whether it is in the classroom, before / after school, or just being a positive presence, Anne is always there to lend a hand. We couldn't be more thankful to have her at Jefferson! Her dedication and support does not go unnoticed!"
Ms. Woodward is the best of the best!

Shout out to our Junior ushers last night who did an amazing job guiding our graduates over the last few days! These leaders were so valuable to helping keep order in our ceremony! Thank you Leah, Natalie, Felix and Maxwell!

"I need to do a whole school shoutout!
My child is special. Placed his own desk by the teacher so other kids would respect his "personal space" kind of special. He strives for perfection and making mistakes like erasing too hard, paper ripping, paper is broken, can lead to a can't do my homework, crying breakdown.
We learned ice can calm him in these moments and I even bought Mrs. Farthing an ice maker so he can get ice when he's frustrated.
Mrs. Farthing was out yesterday, and when Jacob had a meltdown in front of a substitute, his classmates rushed to help and grabbed him a cup of ice and tried to help.
Mrs. Farthing at Monac is an amazing, empathetic teacher who has modeled and taught methods that have become the norm in her room. This kind of empathy is so hard to teach, but so well modeled that instead of panic, these kids thought with their hearts and saw a way to help a kid who could have easily been labeled a problem.
Thank you to all the staff at Monac elementary that took a moment to see my child as someone who needed empathy and not one that needed punishment or shame. That terrible breakdown could have pushed him back into a deep depression. Instead he was shown more tools and solutions to avoid a future breakdown. (More shout outs to his para Ms. J. Moya, I.S. Ms. Dunno, and V.P. Mr. Aldridge. )
Our experience at WLS has been one of compassion that exceeds any expectations I could have ever asked for. "

Some a-maze-ing students in Mr. Steele's class at Whitmer built an actual MAZE for their class pet (Stitch, a blue-tongued skink lizard) during their reptile unit in Biology 2! Stitch is enjoying finding treats placed in it! Shoutout to Cameron, Xzavier, Dionshae and Kaleb!

What a cool day when 13abc reporter Max Schroeder drops by Ms. Steer's Media Arts classes and 10th grade student Harley gets to capture with pictures!
Mr. Schroeder shared his time and professional experiences and also visited the WTMR studio to check out the set up and meet a few junior production team members.
The students had amazing questions for him and he shared some great insider info (Sample: a portable news camera weighs about the same as a small infant!)
What a fun day for students!

Join us this Thursday as we celebrate our graduating Panther performers!

PARENT-to- ENTIRE SCHOOL-staff SHOUTOUT:
"This is my 6th grader Ryan who Attends Shoreland Elementary! We simply love our school soooo much he has been in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks and during this time all his teacher's were reaching out checking on him almost daily! Our principal even personally called me to check on him our school nurse called us! Along with all his friends and their parents. We are so blessed to have such Amazing caring staff! I am happy to report that after the nearly 2 week stay and being diagnosed with a very aggressive form of CHRONS DISEASE he is returning to school tomorrow and hopefully will be able to finish up the year healthy. I'm so proud to be a part of a wonderful district where they are so caring about each student 💘"

STAFF-TO-STAFF SHOUTOUT: "I just cannot say enough wonderful things about Beth Pohl, who organizes all the subs for the district in the HR Department. She is the perfect person to make a wonderful first impression on someone entering WLS. She is kind, patient and goes above and beyond to help others. Anyone who calls her office is treated with the most warm welcome and helpful demeanor. We are so lucky to have her in WLS. She is definitely a behind-the-scenes hero." Miss Beth is everything that was said above and MORE! We are so blessed to have her!
