PAWS and PRAISE!
Hiawatha chose Community House Church to be Pawed this month, as they came to our open house and fed all of our families, brought a huge supply of school supplies for our students AND gave every staff member a gift card to Tim Hortons.

STUDENT SHOUT:
"Mrs Baldwin helped me in so many ways with math. She was so patient with me when I didn't understand.she is overall a good teacher. She was my favorite. She was hard on me but that made me do better. I also loved her teaching skills every day. I would walk into her class and she would say hello and put a smile on my face. As a freshman I still would go to her if I had any problems with anything. That is how much she means to me. She helped me catch up if I was behind on math. Thank you for being the person you are, Mrs Baldwin!"

Student praise is always so heartfelt and right on the money! What an impact Ms. B made!

STAFF SHOUT:

"I’m in a new position at Jefferson, and I just wanted to take a moment to give a heartfelt shout out to a few amazing colleagues from across the district: Kim Huey (Jefferson), Stephanie Ewing (Whitmer), Theresa Laser (Washington), Courtney Sifuentes (Washington), Wendy Kiser (Whitmer), and Susan Mee (Meadowvale).
From day one, they have all been incredibly kind, helpful, and supportive. Every time I’ve had a question, they’ve gone above and beyond to guide me and make sure I had what I needed. I feel truly lucky to be working alongside such a dedicated and thoughtful group. Just wanted to share some appreciation — they deserve it!"

Being new is not easy - but being kind sure is for this rockstar team!

PARENT-TO-SCHOOL SHOUTOUT:

"Its hard to be brief, but I will do my best 🙂 I graduated from Whitmer and was a Firebird myself, my first year in WLS was my 6th grade year at Shoreland. Fast forward to this year, my kids started their first year in Shoreland/WLS and I know how many emotions run through you starting at new school. The staff at Shoreland has welcomed us with every arm wide open ❤️ one of my kids recently made a remark that his new school is way better than his old school & I truly believe its not just his teacher or classmates, its the school and all the hands working to make it a safe and happy place for our kids. So thank you to every person at Shoreland Elementary for literally just being you! "

STAFF SHOUT:

"A huge thank you to Kristen & Kathy in the Jefferson cafeteria for going above and beyond to make our new free breakfast and lunch program shine! 🥳

They created a gorgeous display showing exactly what a complete breakfast and complete lunch look like. 🍳🥛🍎🍕 Not only does this help students understand the program better, but it also gives them a fun visual to see what a balanced meal looks like.

What makes this extra special? 💛 They did this on their own time, simply because they care about helping students and making things easier for them. That kind of initiative and love is what makes our schools feel like family. They have also decorated the entire cafeteria, making it so welcoming!

We are so lucky to have staff who put their heart into everything they do for kids—this sweet project is just one more example of how much they truly care. 💙💛

Way to go, to our amazing cafeteria crew—you’re feeding both stomachs and hearts every single day! 💫👏"

THIS CREW IS THE DEFINITION OF "ABOVE AND BEYOND!"

"I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to Intervention Specialist at Meadowvale Ashley Eldridge. Her kindness shows every single day—not just in how she supports our students, but in how she supports fellow staff. From the moment I was hired , she welcomed me with open arms and has made me feel like an important part of the team. She reminds me daily that I'm making a difference. Ashley is patient, compassionate, and always willing to lend a hand or an ear. I truly couldn’t imagine doing this job without her—she’s irreplaceable and one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. Our staff along with students are beyond lucky to have her .💙"

"Many times, Whitmer gets visitors and new students who do not speak English. Whitmer staff member Selena Abed is always willing to help translate in order to provide good customer service and make others comfortable in a new setting."

Removing the barrier to clear communication is SUCH a valuable skill to have - but being willing to use it to help others makes you even MORE special. Way to go Ms. Abed!

STAFF SHOUT:

"A huge round of applause to Taelar Steele for the incredible work she is doing with two of our newest Spanish-speaking students. Taelar has stepped right in to make sure they feel supported, included, and successful. In STEM class, she has gone above and beyond—breaking down assignments into manageable steps, using Google Translate to bridge communication gaps, and making sure every student has a voice in the classroom.

Her patience, creativity, and dedication are opening doors for our students and ensuring they can fully participate in hands-on learning. Taelar is a shining example of compassion and teamwork, and we are so lucky to have her as part of our Jefferson Jaguar family. 💙💛"

This is what inclusion looks like and Taelar is modeling the gold-standard!

PARENT SHOUT:

"Miss Katie Mikolajczyk is amazing! From the time she was at Hiawatha now to Monac, my son never wanted to get out of the car. Most days we were late as he didn't want to go to school because it was new and scary as a kindergartener. Miss Katie was always watching for us and would meet us at the door; sometimes she even came out to the car just to help with getting him in to school, always with a smile and warm welcome! He was so pleased to see her on his second day at Monac. Thank you from our family, Miss Katie - for making our little guy's days a bit smoother and welcoming!"

Leaving your child with people who make you feel safe is such a gift and Katie M def has it!
