What is it really like to be a middle schooler? In this episode, our superintendent sits down with five students in grades 6–8 to talk about their experiences at our new middle school. From first-day jitters and the things that felt scary or overwhelming at first to new friendships, favorite parts of the school, and the things they would change, these students share honest insights about navigating a new chapter in their education. Their perspectives offer a glimpse into what makes a school feel welcoming, what helps students find their confidence, and how we can continue to make their experience even better. Because the best way to understand a school is to listen to the students who walk its halls every day!

🎉PARENT-TO-VOLUNTEER and Bus Driver SHOUT OUT 🎉
“I wasn't quite sure what category Office Harrison falls under within our district, but if there were a category to call him family he would fit right in.
I would love for him to get a shout out for his volunteerism at the Middle School with traffic control each morning; he truly keeps things rolling. It truly takes a village and he does this on his own time!
He is a true blessing! I can attest to how helpful this is each morning & cannot imagine how traffic would flow to and from without his assistance.
I would also like to shout out our bus drivers who maneuver the tight areas around the Middle School. I know bus drivers are trained to maneuver tight spaces, but to see it in action is something to behold given the volume of traffic at drop-off and pickup! Our drivers are not always given the right-of-way or space they need, but I can say it is amazing to watch them maneuver these huge buses into very tight spaces with a smile!"

Project PRAIRIE is a conservation education program of the Toledo Zoo (TZ) that installs prairies on public and private school campuses throughout Northwest Ohio.
Bioblitz is a yearly fall project to document the organisms found on each school prairie. Teachers and students use the bioblitz week to conduct inquiry investigations and engage in other citizen science projects in their prairie.
In 2025, Whitmer had the most identified species.
This year, McGregor did with 2,921 identified species!

What do kids do over the summer?
Oh, you know... create a major art piece for the nonprofit Toledo Live Arts on Heatherdowns Ave!
Malcolm Davis, Chelsea McDonagh, and Evie Owen joined ateam who created a large mixed-media piece, consisting of of polytab, acrylic paint, and wood.
It features a poem (written by Evie) and a music staff that plays an excerpt from Waltz of the Flowers by Tchaikovsky, from The Nutcracker! The project was finished over the course of 6 weeks and was lead by Cariana Carillo.
