STAFF SHOUT: "Not only does Joy Roberts go above and beyond at Jefferson to help every student reach their potential, she also goes above and beyond to help her colleagues. When the printer was 'out of order' Joy put on her Ms. Fix it hat and got to work. Sacrificing her favorite pair of pants in the process, Joy brought the printer back to working order and saved the day for all staff who had hoped to use the printer." Joy is a wonderful teacher, kind human AND (apparently) an efficient technician! We are so lucky to have her!

PARENT TO STAFF SHOUT: "These are pictures of my Emily at Girls Rock last night. This is such a heartwarming example of the beauty of inclusion in WLS, I wanted to share them with you. So many people at Washington Junior High (Mr. Villar, Ms. Knuth, Ms. Ashley Williams, Suzi Leone, the Girls Rock Team) and Transportation have made this possible and such a positive experience for Emily. Ms. Williams has been staying with Emily at Girls Rock to support her and then walks with her to Whitmer to board the late bus home. Emily rides the bus home with her peers, but has the accommodation to be dropped off in front of our home. I’m very thankful for everyone thinking outside of the box for Emily to participate. Emily feels welcome and loved at Washington because of everyone’s willingness to support her. Amazing job!"

*THIS AMAZING EMPLOYEE GOT TWO SHOUTOUTS IN THE SAME WEEK, SO WE WILL INCLUDE BOTH OF THEM HERE.* STAFF-TO-STAFF SHOUTOUT: "Jessica is the sweetest soul with a heart of gold. She has the best sense of humor that you just love to hear on the toughest of days.  She always has a smile for you just when you need it. She multi-tasks like a pro in one of the busiest parts of the building but still makes sure to connect with students and staff in the biggest 'little' ways. She is a huge asset to Shoreland that we are so incredibly lucky to have!" "Substitute Staff shout out to Jessica Cole at Shoreland. She is so kind, helpful, and has a huge smile on her face everyday. She makes the world a better place. " The kindest of hearts and nicest of humans, this employee makes us so proud she chose WLS!

PARENTTO STAFF SHOUT: "Nothing says dedication like showing up to a cheer competition on your day off to support your student. Our daughter invited her science teacher, Ms. Raquel (RockI) Jones, to one of her cheerleading competitions. I emailed her the schedule but also warned her that the schedule is very much subject to change. She replied that she’d be sure to be there early to make sure she didn’t miss a minute of it. She showed up and cheered her on, as well as some of her other students who happened to be competing that weekend too. We appreciate her for seeing the value in showing up for her students when they ask - even if it means sitting through rounds of loud music and eating concession stand food on your day off. Your support meant the world to my daughter and didn’t go unnoticed! We appreciate your dedication, not only to making science class engaging and applicable, but to your students' interests outside of the classroom." No coincidence that "ROCK" is in this ROCKSTAR teacher's name! What an awesome thing to do for her students. 💖 WE ARE SO LUCKY TO HAVE HER ON STAFF!

STAFF SHOUT: "To say that I work with the BEST 1st grade team in Washington Local is an understatement.  Paige Bacon, Jennifer Earl and Erika Jackson are amazing in so many ways. If it weren't for this incredible team at Shoreland, I'm not sure where I would be.  They have picked me up on bad days and made me see the brighter side in stressful situations.  We work together as a TEAM daily and make TEAM decisions. Remember, there is no "I" in "team."  I am so blessed to work with the BEST :)" Teamwork definitely makes the dream work!  How wonderful to see the support of this team!

STAFF SHOUT: "Mrs. Sarah Osborn is an amazing Intervention Specialist at Hiawatha. She is dedicated to not only her students but to all the students at Hiawatha. She works collaboratively with families, paraprofessionals, and teachers. The way she supports, uplifts, and mentors everyone to teach lifelong skills is invaluable. She is also very humble. So many have been fortunate to have learned so much from her! In the words of some of her students, Mrs. Osborn is "EPIC"!" Epic Educator Status: UNLOCKED!

*This rock star educator received TWO nominations which we have combined below. STAFF SHOUT: 1. "Mrs. Mary Anne Morelli (Hiawatha) is an exceptional teacher and colleague. She not only goes above and beyond to meet the needs of her students and their families, but she does the same for the staff of Hiawatha and her colleagues throughout the district. Mrs. Morelli is ALWAYS the first one in and the last one to leave the building. She is the true definition of a dedicated educator. She is not only an asset to the Washington Local School District but to the entire teaching profession." 2. "When you think about the saying, It takes one person to make the difference in the life of a child, Hiawatha 2nd grade teacher Mary Anne Morreli comes to mind. A veteran teacher, she has spent countless hours learning new instructional techniques, planning inspiring lessons, talking with parents, and making her classroom a comfortable space for all of her students. She's able to teach and gracefully handle the many technology issues brought to her. Thank you for all you do for your Hiawatha, TAWLS , and WLS families MAM!" When your reputation is hard work and love for kids - you're doing everything right! Thank you Ms. M!

PARENT SHOUT: "I would like to give Brad Densmore a parent to staff shout out. My child is a freshman this year on an IEP. Since the start of school, Mr Densmore has gone above and beyond to keep me and her teaching team in contact and up to date. He has kept my daughter on track and is always encouraging her to be the best she can be. Last week during bad weather I found myself in a bind; I needed documents and had a deadline to get them. After exhausting all outlets, I reached out to Mr Densmore via email. He responded in record time, and although what I needed was out of his hands, he did not hesitate to spring into action. He contacted Jenny Wietryzkowski who was able to get the documents - and between the two, I had what I needed via email within minutes. This kind act just demonstrates how much WLS teachers and staff care about their students. I was able to make my deadline, even with bad weather and school closed. I'm so proud to have my child be a 3rd generation student in such a caring school district. Once a Panther always a Panther!!! WLSPROUD!" Wow. Words like these are such a great reminder of the power we have to help people feel supported. Way to go Mr. Densmore and Ms. Wietro!

STAFF SHOUT: "I had a student in crisis come to me. I directed her to Becky Swisher and she had an action plan in place before the end of the day. Becky has shown this type of dedication time after time throughout her tenure at Whitmer. I just can't say enough about the positive impact that she has on our students and their families." Ms. Swisher is more than a district social worker. She is a life preserver for all and we are so grateful and lucky to have her!
