"Mrs. Castro (Whitmer) is like Batman. She is one of the most selfless employees WLS has yet not many people are aware of the tireless work she does on behalf of her students. She goes above and beyond to make sure they have what they need both academically and personally. She steps in as a parent-figure to buy things that students need, her paperwork and attention to detail rivals no one as she is the best, and her kindness and compassion for her colleagues is incredible. Mrs. Castro is a very private person and wouldn't want any of this attention but she deserves every bit of it. Our district is better because of Mrs. Castro."
