Good Morning Washington Local,
This week we pause to recognize our entire staff for their outstanding commitment to Washington Local students. Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Our drivers are the first contact your students have with us everyday and we are so proud that they help our kids start their days off right! This week is also set aside to recognize teachers and all instructional staff who support the learning of our students. When you think about it, that's everyone. Everyone at Washington Local plays a role in your child's success and we think our staff is the best in the business! Please join us in celebrating a staff who has moved mountains this past year!
As a reminder, students will not be in attendance on Tuesday, May 4 as our instructional staff has a professional learning day.
As parents and guardians, we must always be on alert for potential harm to our kids. There is a new app we were recently made aware of that students may be using to communicate while playing online games like Fortnight and Pokemon Go. It seems that there are others using the app for evil purposes, as well, including bullying, private messaging, adult content, etc. It's a good practice to follow the guidance on Common Sense Media's website
. Let's do all we can to keep our kids safe.
With spring arriving, it's easy to get a little complacent about COVID-19. We are so close to the finish line. We want our students to enjoy spring sports and activities, finish school, and head into summer healthy and happy. We will continue to practice safe guidelines for mask-wearing, hand-washing, and social distancing. Let's finish strong.
