PowerSchool Parent Portal - How To...

NOTES
The PowerSchool Parent Portal 'times out' very quickly. The Parent Portal will log you out after a few minutes of no activity (switching between screens.) This is a security feature to help keep your student's records private.

How To Create a Parent Portal Account and Add a Student

Parents create their own accounts. Once a Parent Account has been created one or more students can be added to that account. In order to add a student you must have the student Access Code and the Access Code Password.
Please note that the student username and password will only enable you to see that one student.
 
Go to http://www.WLS4Kids.org/ParentPortal
Click on the 'Parent / Student Login' button

Since we need to create our account we will click on 'Create Account' in the lower right-hand corner.
 
Type your First Name, Last Name and e-mail address in the boxes provided.
Type your desired username in the box provided. If your desired username is already taken you will be asked to enter a different username.

Type your password twice. Please make this a secure password. Your password must also be at least 6 characters long.

Enter your child's name, Access ID, Access Password and relationship. The ID and Password are the only things that need to match the information you received. You can add up to eight students at this time. More can be added later.

Click on Submit
 
You will now be returned to the login page where you need to actually use the username and password that you just set up.
 
Once you are logged in there are few things to note...
Logout is in the top right corner.

If you have more than one student registered you can select the student you wish to see by clicking on the name in the top blue bar.

The icons down the left hand side are all of the options / items you have the rights to see and use.

How To Edit Your Account

Go to http://www.WLS4Kids.org/ParentPortal
Click on the 'Parent / Student Login' button

Enter your Parent Portal Username and Password

Click on 'Sign In
 
On the left hand side click on 'Account Preferences'
 
On the Profile tab you can update your name, e-mail address and desired display language. You can also change you username and password.
Click on 'Save' to save your changes or 'Cancel' to cancel making any changes.

How To Add Additional Students to your Parent Portal Account

Once you have a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account you can add one or more students to your account.
Please note that any one Parent Portal Account can have one or more students associated. Likewise, any one student can be linked to any number of Parent Portal Accounts.

In order to add a student to your account you must have their Access Code and their Access Code Password.
 
Go to http://www.WLS4Kids.org/ParentPortal
Click on the 'Parent / Student Login' button

Enter your Parent Portal Username and Password

Click on 'Sign In'
 
On the left hand side click on 'Account Preferences'
 
Click on the 'Students' tab
 
Click on the 'Add' button in the bottom right corner.
 
Enter your child's name, Access ID, Access Password and relationship. The ID and Password are the only things that need to match the information you received.

Click on Submit

Click on the 'Parent / Student Login' button

Enter your Parent Portal Username and Password

Click on 'Sign In'
 
On the left hand side click on 'Email Notifications'
 
Check the items you wish to receive - please note that some items may not exist / be available at all times.
Select how often you wish to receive the notifications.

Make any additional changes including additional e-mail addresses to send copies of the notifications.

Click on 'Submit'

How To View Current Grades / Contact Teachers via email

Click on 'Sign In'
 
On the left hand side click on 'Email Notifications'

Select how often you wish to receive the notifications.

How to View Grades

Click on the 'Parent / Student Login' button

Enter your Parent Portal Username and Password

Click on 'Sign In'
 
On the left hand side click on 'Email Notifications'
 
You will now see your child's schedule and current grade. Any time you see a teacher's name you can click on it to send an e-mail.
 
To see the details behind a grade click on the grade.
 
You will now see the assignment details behind the current grade. You can also read any specific comments posted by the teacher.
