The Washington Local Schools Department of Information Services (DIS) is constantly exploring and implementing improvements in hardware, software, procedures and training that assist with the goal of educating students. Some of the more recent projects include:
- Implementing virtual server technology to provide a more robust operation that at the same time reduces energy consumption
- Implementing a new content filtering / network utilization system to maximize the educational use of our network
- Implementing a Content Management System to enhance the public Web site to include the possibility of department / staff Web sites
- Continuing our classroom technology obsolescence program to keep repair costs down and student / staff productivity high
- Implementing an online Course Management System to enable staff to create online extensions to their face-to-face courses
- Implementing tools such as the HoverCam a document camera and combining it with GradeCam an online tool that instantly grades bubble sheet assessments
